BACKGROUND
2016 – “Watch Your Step” accepted for Touched with Fire exhibit at Kaviar Forge & Gallery in Louisville, KY from May 19, 2016 to August 6, 2016.
Sold at New York exhibit, Postcards from the Edge, an original watercolor on a postcard format, from the original artwork, “Face In The Mirror”. It was especially created for this benefit for Visual Aids to raise funds through art to fight aids.
2015 – Inclusion of the artwork “The Soloist” in Misfits Anthology, a printed publication.
2013 – “Hands on Freedom” accepted for publication in a book Flags Across America.
2012 – Four artworks selected for Harlean Carpenter’s Poetic Pinup Revue, a magazine that combines art & poetry. “Laugh In The Dark” included in the February 2012 issue, “Watch Your Step” included in May 2012 issue, and “A Room For Heartless Souls” included in October 2012 issue. “Love For Him Within” is pending publication.
2011 – “Ray Charles” accepted for 1st Annual Best of Drawing Exhibit, Little Strokes Gallery, an online gallery/exhibition.
“New Year’s Eve”, watercolor & ink, accepted for exhibit at Zzyzx Gallery of National Science, Los Angeles, CA for “The Brain & Magic Art Exhibit”.
2010 – Selected Artist of the Month, May 2010, for online The Artlist resource website.
“Hands on Freedom”, watercolor, accepted for Wounded In Action, a traveling art exhibition of orthopaedic advancements for veterans. Possibly for 5 years. Started in Louisiana. Published in a book promoting the exhibit.
“Harebell”, acrylic, published in 2010 Art Buzz Collection hardcover publication.

2009 - Artwork, “We All Matter”, watercolor, accepted for 2009 Ohio National Memorial Art & Veteran’s History Exhibition.
“Futuristic Take Out”, my design on take out container provided by Brevard Art Museum, Melbourne, Fl, accepted for juried exhibit originally scheduled for May 15, 2009 through July 12, 2009, and was extended through August 30, 2009. Traveling exhibition continued through July 2011.
Honorable Mention for “Buzzed”, accepted for Art Buzz, 2010 Collection, a hardcover “coffee table” publication.
Three artworks, “Young Marlon”, “Native American Woman”, and “Woman of Dreams”, exhibited at The Old Courthouse Figurative League, Real People 2009, in Illinois.
Artwork, “Orange Fall”, accepted for exhibit, Coastal Art League Museum 25th Annual Juried Show – 2009, in Half Moon Bay, CA.
2008 – Accepted as a member of Artrom Guild, Rome, Italy through a jury review and 12 artworks selected, “Shapeshifters Series” for Artrom Gallery, Rome, Italy online exhibition. Selected as one of the top ten winners for “Top Ten Revealed” photography competition through Artrom.
2007 – Selected “Best Of” at Mims Gallery, Rocky Mount, NC, the final stop of the Katrina tour. Selected as one of three finalists, through public voting, participating in People’s Art Competition through Cultural Competitions, Los Angeles, CA. Final results still pending due to the passing of the founder. Donated original acrylic, “Bartlett Cove” to All Soul’s Silent Auction.
2006 – Donated “Black Fish” to Katrina and the levee broke exhibition tour to raise money for the children victims of the hurricane. Exhibited “Inspired” at IMEO Gallery, “We Are So!” exhibition, Denver, Colorado. Donated “Still As A Rose” print to All Soul’s Annual Silent Auction.
2005 - Two abstracts in advertisement for utilization of a product, Blickrylic acrylic paints, in Dick Blick Art Materials winter studio catalog. Donated a giclee print of “The Swan” to All Soul’s Church in South San Francisco, CA silent auction. Participated in Mona Lisa Postcard exhibit at the Works Gallery in San Jose, CA.
2004 – Exhibited at Betty Weber Gallery General Art Show and won Honorable Mention for “The Swan”. Exhibited two pieces at Sun Gallery, Hayward, CA – “Affirmative Abstraction”. Participated in Greenhouse Art Studios, South San Francisco, CA, Open Studios. Three art pieces accepted for Vallejo Community Arts Foundations, Fetterly Gallery “Drawing” Exhibition for a month long exhibit ending in January, one sold. Continue to exhibit numerous pieces at Hot Shots Gourmet Coffee & Tea House in South San Francisco, CA.
2003 – Donated limited edition print to KTEH Art Auction that sold to help raise funds for public television. Art piece accepted for Sebastopol Center of the Arts “Portraits” Exhibit, Sebastopol, CA. Participated in contest for Napkin Art, Mama’s Royal Café, Oakland, CA – won Honorable Mention. Participated in stamp Design contest at San Mateo Fair – won Honorable Mention. Exhibited numerous works at Starbucks, San Bruno, CA at their kickoff “Art In The Dark” Exhibition. Exhibited two pieces at Betty Weber Gallery General Art Show, South San Francisco, CA. Continue to exhibit numerous pieces at Hot Shots Coffee House, one sold.
2002 – Exhibited one piece at Betty Weber Gallery art show, South San Francisco, CA. Art piece accepted for exhibit at Coastal Art League, Half Moon Bay, CA. Continue to exhibit numerous pieces at Hot Shots Coffee House. Two pieces exhibited at CD Warehouse, San Bruno, CA.
2001 - Donated original artwork to KTEH Art Auction that sold to help raise funds for public television. Continue to exhibit numerous pieces at Hot Shots Coffee House. Established website: artworksbymarty.com.
2000 - Art piece accepted for exhibit, “A Celebration of Western Art” at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA. Art piece chosen for exhibit at Danville Fine Arts, Danville, CA. Donated one piece to Redwood City Historical Society. Numerous pieces on exhibit at Hot Shots Coffee House.
1999 - Exhibited two pieces at Betty Weber Gallery, “Art Show”, in South San Francisco, CA. Designed and donated two masks to The Mask Project auctioned on E-Bay to benefit the VNA & Hospice Foundation after being on exhibit at Sanchez Art Center Gallery, Pacifica, CA. One mask was chosen for exhibit at Bank of America, San Francisco, CA after the auction. One artwork was chosen for exhibit at Sacramento State Fair.
1998 – Winner of “People’s Choice Award”, for “Indian Warrior”, one of four works entered and accepted for Betty Weber Gallery, “Ceramics and Miniatures” exhibit in South San Francisco, CA.
1997 – One of the pieces exhibited at Betty Weber Gallery used for a poster and donated to the South San Francisco Historical Society.
1996 – Two works exhibited at Betty Weber Gallery, South San Francisco Municipal Building entitled “South San Francisco, It’s Changing Faces.”
1995 – Two original works on display and for sale at Buljan Jewelers, Redwood City, CA. Both sold in 1999.
1975 – Entered logo contest for Marine World Africa USA through Creature Features, KTVU, Channel 2, hosted by Bob Wilkins. Won First Place.
EDUCATION
1969 – Attended Commercial Art course at John O’Connell Technical Institute, San Francisco, CA. Participated in many art classes throughout junior and senior high schools.
